International Women’s Day 2019: Thousands Of Women Go On Strike

Tomorrow, for the third year running, the International Women’s Day will be marked by strikes and street actions around the world.

In just a short few years the international women’s movement has grown in strength and confidence as women join in this global movement against the destitution, overwork and violence women face daily. Women will strike from all the work they do: from offices and factories, from care work and unpaid domestic work, from community work to the bedroom – organising and unionising with some of the most exploited migrant workers in the service industries.

As part of tomorrow’s actions, sex workers will strike to demand the full decriminalisation, and Women’s Strike Assembly will protest against current plans to move trans women to male prisons and for prison abolition.

Eight cities across Britain and Ireland will see women and non-binary people take to the streets, alongside millions of women worldwide. Here is the summary of tomorrow’s events planned for the UK:
