Poster crew run #spycop takeover of London ad spaces

In their latest adventure occupying advertising real estate across the capital, subvertisers the Special Patrol Group have set giant posters up on bus stops and on the Tube. In a statement, the group said:

These posters are up on the Underground because Metropolitan Police #SpyCops have deceived women into relationships, fathered children and lied about it in court. And they still won’t release the names of the perpetrators. It’s time to stop the whitewash in the #spycops inquiry. Release the names! Release the files!

The endlessly stalled inquiry, which has seen ringmaster John MItting grant anonymity to nearly 30% of the force’s undercovers, has largely lost the confidence of its victims, with three victims now fundraising to mount a legal challenge against the way it’s being run. They said:

Our fear is that if it continues in its current trajectory that the Undercover Policing Inquiry will be a whitewash. We have been forced to initiate a legal challenge to the Home Secretary’s decision to refuse to appoint a panel with the skill and diversity required. Our aim is to restore public confidence in the Undercover Policing Inquiry and its ability to get to the truth.
