A protest is planned in London this Friday evening against a performance at Vortex Jazz Club in Dalston of a Nazi apologist, writer, saxophonist and political activist Gilad Atzmon.
One of the protest organisers, speaking to Freedom News, said:
“Gilad is not just a very naughty boy with a messiah complex (seeing himself as saving the world from the evil Jews, like the turncoat storm trooper smuggling out the deathstar blueprints to the Jedi forces) he is a dangerous hate preacher with a very thin veneer of respectability given to him by those who should know better. He can carry on playing his funky music and people will no doubt still listen, much like they do R Kelly, Gary Glitter and Skrewdriver. The money that pays for his music and gigs, goes towards funding his books, website and those hard-earned pennies get turned right into hate-speech which do nothing except sow the seeds of violence and prejudice.”
Atzmon, an antisemite described as “a near-perfect example of how the extreme right and the radical left can become practically indistinguishable”, is Israeli-born but prefers to identify as a “Hebrew-speaking Palestinian”. He has been accused of Holocaust denial, and while he objects to this accusation, he also stated that “the Holocaust narrative, in its current form, doesn’t make any historical sense,” and “if, for instance, the Nazis wanted the Jews out of their Reich, or even dead, as the Zionist narrative insists, how come they marched hundreds of thousands of them back into the Reich at the end of the war?” and: “I shall maintain that the Holocaust religion was well established a long time before the Final Solution (1942), well before Kristallnacht (1938), the Nuremburg Laws (1936), and even before Hitler was born (1889). The Holocaust religion is probably as old as the Jews themselves.”
Along Nazi apologism, Gilad is quite content to associate himself with Neo-Nazis like the KKK’s David Duke, who hosts several of Atzmon’s texts at his website. He also takes a huge umbrage with the LGBT rights movement, which, somehow, he also manages to make about Jews. On his website, Atzmon states: “(…) the Transgender person might as well be an honorary Jew as it is a widely known reality that Organized Jewish Interests are quite intimately and heavily involved in funding LGBT movements and causes, as evidenced by the support of the American Jewish World Service (…)”
After the calls to cancel Atzmon’s performance fell on deaf ears, the activists from Jewdas, Socialists Against Antisemitism, London Young Labour and Momentum are organising a protest tomorrow, 15th March at 7pm in front of Vortex Jazz Club in Dalston.
